Cheboygan… by Land or by Water

We’re the place where the Straits of Mackinaw meets the Great Inland Waterway. Our trails are unsurpassed for a perfect recreation vacation. Our lakes offer the best and most diverse fishing opportunities in Michigan. We have incredible hunting terrain. Plus, our ORV and hiking trails are fantastic. We have it all!

  • Check out the Cheboygan County History Center. It’s an historic tour through our lumber and fishing heritage.

  • Visit the new Cheboygan Brewing Company. It’s an incredible place to visit with a Cheboygan Brewing History Center and a Brew Pub in one place.

  • The creative arts are here. Our Historic Opera House, built in 1889 and twice destroyed by fire, is the cultural center of sunrise coast of far northern Michigan.
  • Northern Michigan’s best trails surround the Fleetwood Inn and Suites, so bring your bikes, ORVs, and hiking gear. You’ll experience one of America’s highest rated trail networks. In Cheboygan County alone, there are nearly 450 miles of fantastic trails.

  • We’re close to the Cheboygan to Alpena trail, the North Central Michigan Trail (map on right), Black Mountain Recreation Area… the list goes on and on. Finely groomed trails? We have them. Rugged motocross trails? They’re everywhere. There are trails with breathtaking views of the Straits of Mackinac, and wondrous paths through deep forests and open fields. You can bike or hike or ride through all of northern Michigan’s magical countryside when you headquarter your stay in Cheboygan at the Fleetwood Inn and Suites.

  • Northern Michigan’s Inland Waterway is one of the truly spectacular wonders of the upper Great Lakes. It’s the only navigable inland waterway in the north country. From The Waterway Fleetwood Inn and Suites you can wind your way north a few minutes with the current of the Cheboygan River, drop down through the old locks, and cruise into downtown Cheboygan.

  • And just beyond Cheboygan Harbor you’ll experience the mysteries and histories of the Straits of Mackinac, Mackinac Island, the Mackinac Bridge, Bois Blanc Island, and the majestic open waters of Lake Huron.

  • Need a pontoon rental? Mullett Lake Marina will surely provide the pontoon for you.
  • You can head southward from our hotel to dreamlike inland lakes that are pure legend when it comes to leisure boating and unbeatable fishing. There’s Black Lake to the east and Mullett Lake to the south. Indian River, Burt Lake and Crooked Lake around the next bend. It’s no coincidence that Cheboygan County has more freshwater shoreline than any county in Michigan.

  • So, whether it’s sport fishing for walleye, bass, salmon, steelhead, trout or northern pike you seek… or whether it’s casual cruising on our magical water highway to dockside restaurants… or family fun tubing behind your power boat or pontoon, the Fleetwood Inn and Suites is your perfect northern Michigan headquarters.

  • We look forward to seeing you and your boat very soon!
